Pietro Diona obtained his bachelor’s degree in Physics Engineering (2019) from the Politecnico di Torino within the excellence track Young Talents. He subsequently earned the diplôme d’ingénieur in Micro and Nanotechnologies for Integrated Systems (2021) from Grenoble INP–Phelma, a master’s degree in Nanotechnologies for ICTs (2021) from the Politecnico di Torino, and the joint master’s degree in Micro and Nanotechnologies (2021) from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). He then carried out research activities in Zurich at the Department of Magnetism and Matter Physics of ETH, under the supervision of Prof. Pietro Gambardella.
Since 2023, he has been a PhD candidate (XXXIX cycle) at the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, within the department of Nanoscience directed by Prof. Fabio Beltram. His doctoral research is conducted in collaboration with the Quantum Materials Theory department of the Italian Institute of Technology, under the supervision of Dr. Sergey Artyukhin.
His research, both theoretical and experimental in condensed matter physics, focuses on magnetic textures in complex magnetic systems, with particular emphasis on ferrimagnetic materials.
