Alberto Ansaldo graduated in Electronics Engineering at the University of Genoa in 2004, studying the Microfabrication of contact arrays devoted to carbon nanotube FET implementation. From 2004 to 2007 he accomplished his PhD studies in Electronic and Information Engineering at the Department of Biophysical and Electronic Engineering - University of Genoa - in collaboration with the Synthetic Nanostructure Group of the Department von Klitzing - Max Plank Institute, Stuttgart - working on Chemical Vapour Deposition of Carbon Nanotubes on Various Substrates for Electronic Applications. During this period he obtained two grants, one in 2006 from DAAD - Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, grant for young researchers - and one in 2007 from Sineurope Nanotech GmbH, both related with his work on Carbon Nanotubes Synthesis at Department von Klitzing – Max Plank Institute for Solid State Research, Stuttgart. During his Ph.D. he particularly focused on Single-walled Carbon Nanotube Networks as transparent electronic material developing both direct synthesis on transparent substrates and a new transfer method.

In 2008 he joined the Istituto Italiano di Technologia (IIT) working in the Soft Materials Design Laboratory of the RBCS department.

Currently, he is member of the Graphene Labs  (IIT) working on Li-ion based hybrid batteries.

Alberto Ansaldo has a strong experimental background both in synthesis of carbon nanotubes by chemical vapour deposition and their characterization. He has experience in characterization of nanomaterials by Atomic Force Microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, micro-Raman Spectroscopy and in electrical and electrochemical characterization of materials and devices.
